Downtown Frankford

Home HardwareFrankford is best described as a village within a city. Beautifully situated about 15 km upstream from the river's mouth, Frankford is truly the Heart of the Trent Valley.

Frankford's downtown provides a friendly small town shopping experience with a wide range of products and services for upwards of 4500 people in the north portion of Quinte West.

The history of Frankford is closely tied to the development of the Trent River waterway. And still today much of Quinte West's economic development in Frankford focuses on maximizing the benefits of this tremendous asset.

Recent projects include:

  • extensive redevelopment in the Frankford Tourist Park for both day-use, camping, and special events
  • Shore power for overnight boaters at Lock 6.
  • the highly successful Frankford Splashpark facility.
  • extensive beautification in the downtown and waterside areas with trees, benches, banners, and signage.

In the downtown corridor, many businesses have availed themselves of special funding support for façade improvement from the city's Community Improvement Plan.

Plans are in place in 2011 for an expanded and modernized Library facility and city office downtown. As the next immediate step going forward Quinte West council, business owners, and local developers are working closely to encourage and support new businesses and development in the community of Frankford.
