Downtown Revitalization

New green metal bench and garbaage can, part of the downtown revitalization project

Downtown Trenton invested in the "streetscape" beginning in 2007. The downtown revitalization on Dundas Street was completed in late 2007 and Front Street in 2008. In 2009, the revitalization of Quinte Street was completed, amounting to more than $2 million of new investment in the downtown core of Trenton Ward.

The City was fortunate to receive $150,000 for this project from the Province through the RED program in 2007/2008 and $75,000 in 2009/2010. We now have new street signage and banners, decorative lighting, new interlock brick sidewalks, benches, tree plantings, and beautiful landscaping.

Even more good things are coming to Downtown Trenton ! At the beginning of 2018, the Main Street Revitalization initiative — a $26 million fund to assist municipal governments in actions which  support and benefit small businesses — has provided  the city with $65,239 from this fund. This funding will support a wide range of projects. Spring-themed street banners and refreshed murals will continute the beautifucation efforts currently at work in the downtown core. An exciting edition to the revitalization plan is several technological projects which are supported by this new funding. Among these editions is the purchase of sound equipment to broadcast  music in the Front Street Farmers’ market, an LED lighting system on the underside of the Veterans’ Skyway Gateway to the Trent Bridge, public use Wi-Fi in the downtown core, and the continued installation of security cameras.
